Are the programs offered by the Renaud Center the same as the programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department?
Yes. The Renaud Center is O’Fallon’s indoor recreation complex, and it also is a division of the Parks and Recreation Department. Online registration is also available.
Can I use a metal detector in the park?
Yes, you may. However, metal detecting in restricted areas such as athletic fields, historical areas, irrigated lawns, archaeological sites, landscaped areas and any other location marked with signs prohibiting the practice. Per City Code section 225.070.9.b, the only permissible subsurface probe or excavating tool is a hand tool specifically designed for use in metal detecting and so designed and constructed to minimize disruption to the ground surface and maximize site restoration and having a probe not greater than four (4) inches in width and twelve (12) inches in length (commonly known as a “dirt dagger”). All disturbed areas shall be restored to their original condition.
Can I use a pavilion anytime or do I have to rent it?
If you would like the space exclusively reserved for a party or gathering, you will need to rent the pavilion. Otherwise, all pavilions are first come, first served. We do not have pavilion use in Knaust Park and we do not rent the pavilions adjacent to Brendan's Playground in Westhoff Park.

How many parks does O'Fallon have and where are they located?
The City of O’Fallon has eight developed parks: Civic Park, Dames Park, Fort Zumwalt Park, Knaust Park, Sports Park, O'Day Park, Ozzie Smith Sports Complex and Westhoff Park. Please reference the individual park webpages for detailed location maps.
I'd like to have wedding pictures taken in the park. Do I need a permit?
No, you do not need a permit to take photos. The park is a public area available for your use. However, it is advisable to call the Renaud Center at 636-474-2732 to confirm that there are no events scheduled in the park on the day of your photography session that would prohibit the session.
Is alcohol allowed in O'Fallon parks?
Yes. However, glass containers of any kind holding any liquid (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) are strictly prohibited.
May I bring my dog to the park?
Yes, dogs are allowed in our parks although they may be prohibited during special events, which allow only service animals. Pets must leashed at all times and wear an identifying collar with a current rabies tag. Please clean up after your pet.
May I fish in Lake Whetsel?
Yes! Fishing is allowed in Lake Whetsel following our successful restocking program. Please observe posted fishing limits.
Where can I find information about programs and classes offered by the Parks and Recreation Department?
The City of O’Fallon’s Park & Rec Guide contains a catalog of programs, and it is mailed to residents four times a year on the first week of March, June, September and December. Copies can be picked up at City facilities, and the guide is available online, too.
Where can I register for classes, pay for rentals or conduct other Parks and Recreation business?

Special Event Permits – For rentals that exceed the parameters of a "normal" pavilion rental (i.e. includes bounce house, petting zoo, game trailer, bubble bus, food truck, the event is open to the public, requires amplified sound, etc.), contact the Renaud Center at 636-474-2732.
